Job Opening: House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence

News | August 9, 2017

The Democratic staff of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee seeks a motivated full-time staff/research assistant to join an active and tight-knit team in Washington, DC.

A successful candidate will have a background in national security, intelligence, or foreign affairs, possess at least a Bachelor’s degree, and demonstrate superb organizational skills along with careful attention to detail. This person should be able to manage and prioritize among multiple tasks and communicate ideas clearly in both written and oral forms, while bringing good judgment, humility, discretion, and a sense of humor to the role.

Duties will include providing research support to Members and staff, responding to information requests in a timely and professional manner, assisting in hearing preparation, compiling weekly briefing binders for Members, interfacing with Member personal offices, answering phones, and additional administrative tasks as assigned. Previous Capitol Hill experience, particularly in a Committee setting, is a big plus.

An active Top Secret security clearance is required; eligibility for SCI is highly desirable — this is a great opportunity for early-career candidates looking to build up their national security policy and legislative expertise.

To apply, please submit a resume and a cover letter to Hpsci.DemJob@mail.house.gov with “Staff/Research Assistant – FULL NAME” in the subject line. No phone calls, please.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and candidates who are contacted for an interview will be asked to submit references.
