DNI Avril Haines Meets with Students During UT-Austin Visit

During a January 26, 2023 visit to Austin, Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Avril Haines met with UT undergraduate and graduate students participating in national security programs offered by the Clements Center for National Security, Strauss Center for International Security and Law, and the Strauss-Clements Intelligence Studies Project. Director Haines described her own path to public service and fielded questions on intelligence careers, current security challenges, and global hot-spots. She paid a courtesy call on University President Jay Hartzell before making remarks and joining a fireside chat with Strauss Center Director Adam Klein at the Lady Bird Johnson Auditorium. The DNI’s visit was co-sponsored by the LBJ Presidential Library and the LBJ School of Public Affairs and was scheduled to coincide with public hearings held at the Library that week by the Public Interest Declassification Board.
