Incoming LBJ School Students Participate in CIA-led Exercise

News | August 4, 2015

On August 4, incoming students in the LBJ School’s masters degree programs completed an analytic simulation led by visiting officials from CIA’s Directorate of Analysis.

Working in groups, students evaluated intelligence reporting on a fictional overseas crisis and prepared intelligence analysis for senior U.S. policymakers.

Over the course of the simulation, the intelligence picture changed and students were challenged to explain an increasingly complex tactical situation, to prioritize intelligence collection requirements, and to develop practical options for a U.S. policy response. The exercise concluded with a discussion of CIA’s role in the national security policy-making process and CIA/DA internship programs available to graduate students.
