On Monday, February 16, 2026, the Strauss-Clements Intelligence Studies Project will host a public event, “HOT SPOT BRIEFING – Yemen and the Houthis: Unfinished Business” with Amb. Edmund Fitton-Brown, former UK Ambassador to Yemen.

Join us for our “Hot Spot Briefing” series, where attendees receive a deep dive into the region’s history and security-related issues. The event is free and open to the public.

BIOGRAPHY

Ambassador (Retired) Edmund Fitton-Brown is currently a Senior Fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. He also holds a number of advisory or fellowship positions with other institutes and think-tanks. He previously completed a full career with the UK foreign service, culminating as Ambassador to Yemen in 2015-2017. He then joined the United Nations and served for five years as Coordinator of the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team concerning Islamic State, al-Qaeda and the Taliban. He is married to a Texan and is based in Austin. He has three adult children.
