ISP co-sponsored with the Longhorn Center for Academic Excellence in the Division of Diversity and Campus Engagement an event focused on diversity recruitment at the CIA featuring Director John Brennan.

Diversity 1

After a welcome by Vice President for the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement Dr. Gregory Vincent and an introduction by former UT-Austin President Bill Powers, Director Brennan delivered remarks to a full house at Avaya Auditorium.

Diversity 2

Director Brennan explained the “business case” for ensuring that CIA’s global workforce was as diverse as the American society CIA represents and the world that the Agency is charged with monitoring. Director Brennan described the steps he is taking to implement recommendations by a task force of distinguished private citizens that assessed the level of diversity within CIA’s senior management ranks.

Diversity 3

Dr. Richard Reddick, the Assistant Vice President of Research and Policy in the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement, moderated a lively question and answer session with students.  Director Brennan fielded a range of questions, including on the Agency’s security vetting procedures, its current hiring priorities, and accommodations available in overseas facilities for CIA employees with physical disabilities.

The Longhorn Center’s Associate Vice President Dr. Aileen Bumphus exchanged gifts with Director Brennan to close the session.
